As Paris Saint-Germain announced their lineup for their match against Lyon on Sunday night, Lionel Messi’s name was met with boos and whistles from the home fans. This was not the first time that the Argentine superstar was targeted by PSG supporters, as he has reportedly been booed twice before at the Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain suffered their second straight home defeat in Ligue 1 on Sunday as they lost 1-0 to Lyon, with Bradley Barcola scoring the only goal of the game in the 56th minute. Lionel Messi, who joined PSG in 2021 and has been in fine form this season with 13 goals and assists each in 24 Ligue 1 matches and four goals in seven Champions League matches, couldn’t help his team avoid the defeat. In total, Messi has scored 11 goals and assisted 11 times across 33 appearances for PSG in both competitions.
