UPW vs RCB WPL 2023: Smriti Mandhana, the star batter for Team India, would have never imagined that the maiden Women’s Premier League would turnout to be such a nightmare for her. The most expensive player in the auction, bought for INR 3.4 crores, has failed to play even a single decent knock yet. In the latest match against UP Warriorz, she once again could not do significant as she was dismissed on a duck. So far, in the six matches, she has been able to score just 88 runs with an average of 14.66.
Smriti Mandhana’s batting woes
Earlier, Smriti Mandhana won the toss and opt to bowl first. Her bowlers did a great job initially by restricting the opponents for just 31 runs with the loss of five wickets in 8.1 overs. However, they eventually put 135 runs on board despite a heroic spell by Ellyse Perry. Many fans still expected the chase to be easy and Smriti Mandhana to go big, unfortunately this did not happen once again.
Sophie Devine had a good start smacking 14 runs in first five balls but was eventually dismissed on the last ball of the over. Just on the second over, Deepti Sharma came to bowl and after first two ball went for dot, the pressure started piling up on the skipper. Then, on the third ball, she was bowled out. Smriti was left completely shocked as she continue to stare at the ground in the same position, unable to believe what had happened.
