Viral IPL Video: The players of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricket team are working hard in the nets, leaving no stone unturned as they prepare for their first match of the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite being a popular team, RCB has never won the IPL title. However, they finally broke their “eliminator curse” last year, although they were unable to advance to the final. RCB is determined to go all the way this year and is scheduled to play their opening match against the Mumbai Indians. The former captain of the RCB team, Virat Kohli, has already expressed his determination to win the IPL this year.
Du Plessis distracted by Kohli
Last season of IPL was not great for Virat Kohli, but he has bounced back to his usual form since returning to the game after a 6-week break in August 2022. His aggressive playing style during the middle overs was evident during the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup tournaments. Although he has not played a T20I match since the World Cup, he has shown that his six-hitting skills have improved and he is intentionally taking more high-risk shots.
During the net practice session, Kohli’s performance was impressive and perhaps provided a glimpse of what’s in store for the upcoming matches. However, this came at the cost of his RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis’s concentration. The moment Kohli hit the six, Du Plessis was taking part in an interview with the broadcasters and was answering to a question about the plan for the upcoming matches.
Du Plessis appeared distracted during the interview and was finding it difficult to concentrate on the various questions asked, including their goals for the season, preparation, and the role of young players in the team. “He’s just firing balls all the time,” Du Plessis joked at the end of the interview.

RCB are considered one of the top contenders in the IPL 2023, thanks to their well-rounded squad. However, the team has suffered a few setbacks due to injuries and delayed arrivals of some of their players. Will Jacks, Josh Hazlewood, Rajat Patidar, and Glenn Maxwell are some of the key players who have been affected. In their absence, the burden will fall on the likes of Kohli and du Plessis to lead from the front and guide the team to victory.
