Viral IPL Video: Kieron Pollard, the Trinidadian all-rounder known for his flamboyant style and entertaining performances on the cricket field, made headlines for a bizarre incident during an IPL game in 2015. He actually taped his mouth in a silent protest against umpires.
Why did Pollard tape his mouth
Playing for the Mumbai Indians against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru, Pollard was particularly active on the field, walking around Chris Gayle and trying to create some pressure on the opposing team. However, this drew the ire of the on-field umpires, Richard Illingworth and Vineet Kulkarni, who felt that Pollard was getting too close to the batsmen and interfering with the game.
When the umpires reprimanded Pollard for his behaviour, he responded in a unique way – by taping his mouth shut. This unexpected move drew laughs and cheers from the crowd, who had never seen anything like it before. Pollard himself was visibly unimpressed with the umpires, shaking his head in disagreement as the cameras panned to him.

Pollard made a surprising move during a match when he walked to the dugout in between overs and returned with his mouth taped up, seemingly in protest against the umpires. The commentary box and even his teammates couldn’t resist laughing, but Pollard maintained a serious expression, using the unusual gesture to convey his message.
