Viral Photo: After Rohit’s brave act in the second ODI against Bangladesh, his three-year-old tweet from after the 2019 ODI World Cup went viral. “I don’t just walk out for my team. I walk out for my country,” Rohit wrote in that tweet, which included a photo of him walking out to bat in the India ODI uniform.

Rohit was taken to the hospital

India may have lost the second ODI and the series, but captain Rohit Sharma’s valiant effort to win the match for his team despite a dislocated thumb earned him a lot of credit. Yes, India would be disappointed for failing to win either of the first two games of the series, but their captain’s effort was nothing short of incredible. In the second over of the match, Rohit injured his left thumb while attempting to take a catch. He immediately left the field, grimacing in pain, and was taken to the hospital.

Mustafizur Rahman seal the match for the hosts

Naturally, India’s captain did not participate in fielding and was unable to come out to open the batting. It was assumed that Rohit would not bat after images of his heavily strapped left thumb were shown during India’s innings, but Rohit surprised everyone by walking to bat after India’s seventh wicket fell. On his way to an unbeaten 51 off 28 balls, he hit five sixes, breaking Chris Gayle’s record for the fastest to 500 international sixes, but fell agonisingly short of winning India the match. When 12 runs were needed off two balls, Rohit hit a six, but Bangladesh left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman came back with a good yorker to seal the match for the hosts.

Fans are praising Rohit

After Rohit’s valiant performance with the bat, his three-year-old tweet from the 2019 ODI World Cup went viral. “I don’t just walk out for my team. I walk out for my country,” Rohit said in the tweet, which included a photo of him walking out to bat in an India ODI. Fans began commenting on Rohit’s tweet, praising the opener for putting his life on the line for the sake of the country.

Rohit will not play in final ODI

The Indian captain has returned to Mumbai to seek medical attention for his thumb, which appeared to be in bad shape. He will not play in Saturday’s third and final ODI. Vice-captain KL Rahul will lead the side as they look to reclaim their pride after losing the first two games of the series.
