For the Pakistani supporters, who have consistently supported their team despite a run of disappointing performances, it was just another heartbreaking setback. Fans who traveled from Rawalpindi Stadium in Lahore, and those who came to see the match in New York both expressed displeasure. Banners and posters featuring Pakistani athletes beside their national flag hung throughout the stadium, signaling the large turnout of the fans.

India lost the toss and chose to bat first on the slow-moving Nassau Cricket County field surface. Despite their best efforts, they were all out in 19 overs and could only muster 119 runs. India was completely shut out of the T20 World Cup for the first time ever against Pakistan.
They countered, though, and managed to keep the Pakistani batter at bay. Pakistan continued to lose momentum after losing early wickets. Pakistan lost by 6 runs after taking 7 wickets in 20 overs and managing to score only 113 runs.
