Viral Video: Fielding in cricket requires flexible hand movements and great presence of mind. This gets even more tougher when a direct catch has to be taken for dismissing a batsman. The phrase “Catches win matches” was turned out to be true as West Indies’ great Pollard took Mahela Jayawardene’s catch.

Pollard’s iconic catch at silly point
Though, Pollard is well-known for taking some of the most iconic catches, during a match in Carribean Premier League (CPL) in 2015, he once again proved that to be right. When spinners are active, close-in catching positions in cricket are typically reserved for players who are either short or average in height. Kieron Pollard stands at 6 feet 6 inches, thus he most definitely does not fit into any of these categories, making it all the more remarkable that he took the catch at silly point.
Mahela Jayawardene was sent packing for a first-ball duck by Pollard, a Barbados Tridents player, during a 2015 Caribbean Premier League game between his team and the Jamaican Tallawahs. Pollard made a brilliant low catch at silly point.

When left-arm spinner Robin Peterson entered the field to bowl, the large West Indian, who served as the Tridents team’s captain, positioned himself near to the batsman. The ball hung in the air long enough for Pollard to grasp it and run off in celebration as Jayawardene moved forward to defend his first delivery towards the off-side.
Pollard’s team later won the match by 17 runs
The wicket was very crucial as Mahela Jayawardene was dismissed on the first ball. Mahela’s team, Jamaica Tallawahs eventually lost the match by 17 runs as they could score 129/7 after 20 overs while chasing 146 put on board by Barbados Royal.
