Viral Video: One of the best players to ever play the game of cricket, Virat Kohli, always stands out from the crowd due to his consistency. However, apart from batting, Virat used to bowl occasionally when he was just starting out in his international career. Few people are aware that Kohli has also worn the wicket-keeping gloves in international cricket, in addition to his roles as a batsman and a bowler.
Virat becomes WK while Dhoni bowls
The former captain of India was seen donning the wicketkeeping gloves in a social media video that has gone viral. On India’s 2014 tour of New Zealand, the footage is from the Wellington Test. Also note that India’s most iconic captain MS Dhoni, the team’s usual wicketkeeper, was bowling while Virat was keeping.
Actually, in New Zealand’s second innings, BJ Watling and Brendon McCullum had already amassed 300+ runs for the sixth wicket and were on their way to setting a record partnership. The Indian captain’s bowling options were all failing. He ultimately made the decision to roll his arms, which is why Virat was given the responsibility of keeping wicket.
