Viral Video: Rahul Dravid, a former cricketer for India, has gained widespread acclaim for his batting. He was also known as “The Wall” by many for his skills, especially in test cricket. Nevertheless, he wasn’t a weak bowler either.
In an ODI match against South Africa in 2001 at Kochi, India, dravid displayed his bowling skills to the world. It was the first match of the five-game ODI Series. India fell to South Africa in a two-match Test series in their home stadium just before the ODI series with a score of 2-0. India therefore had a strong desire to prevail in the short series. This was also Saurav ganguly’s second ODI series as captain.
Rahul Dravid showed his bowling prowess to the world
South Africa selected to bat first after choosing to win the toss. The Indian bowlers were unable to challenge the South African batsmen in any way. In that game, both of the openers scored centuries and added 235 runs to their first-wicket partnership.
Then, Rahul Dravid, a right-arm off-break bowler, was added to the attack in the middle over by new captain Sourav Ganguly. But it wasn’t the impulsive choice. A day before the game, Ganguly gave Dravid the go-ahead to bowl in the nets because of the issue with the middle over bowlers. Fortunately , Dravid did not let his new captain down by getting two significant wickets in one over.

In the final ball of that over, Dravid’s next wicket was Lance Klusener. After facing 4 balls, Klusener was caught and bowled out by Dravid on a run. Both wickets were lost when the team’s scoreboard read 249 runs.
India won the match by 7 wickets
With a final spell that read 9-0-43-2, David had a strong performance in that game. 301 runs were scored by South Africa in 50 overs while losing 3 wickets. After losing 7 wickets, India still reached the target with two balls to spare.
Dravid also bowled in the following two games of that series, adding another wicket to his total. Surprisingly, he never bowled in ODI games at the higher level.
