Virat Kohli had a wonderful 2023 season and was unstoppable all year. After a few underwhelming years, it was like the star Indian batsman was back at his best and no one could stop him.
The 35-year-old scored 1,377 runs in 27 ODIs with an average of 72.47 in 2023. He also scored these runs with a strike rate of 99.13. And who can forget his legendary ODI World Cup campaign, where he shattered almost every record?
He was also a very big part of India’s triumph in the Asia Cup 2023 where he played only 2 matches but scored a century in one of them. It was a sensational year for Kohli and he got the ICC ODI Player Of The Year award for that.
Virat Kohli God’s Plan
Virat Kohli is in the USA right now with his team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He received the award right before the beginning of the tournament. Rinku Singh was also present at the venue when Kohli received the award.
Virat Kohli uttered Rinku Singh famous words ‘God’s Plan Baby’ before accepting the award. The official ICC Instagram account posted the video at 4:30 AM IST as Virat received his trophy and cap.
Virat Kohli defeated Shubman Gill for this trophy by a bare minimum margin as he was also a strong contender for the trophy. He is also the sixth player to feature in the ODI Team Of The Year.
