Virat Kohli: India’s star batsman posted a stern Instagram message on Monday notifying followers of a privacy invasion at his Perth, Australia, hotel room. In preparation for Sunday’s T20 World Cup 2022 match against South Africa, Kohli and the Indian team had travelled to Perth.
Kohli expressed his outrage over the invasion of his privacy by sharing a leaked video that appeared online and showed his personal space being filmed without his consent. He also said that the incident had made him “paranoid about his privacy.”
According to Australian local media, the hotel, Crown Perth, has since apologised to Kohli for the incident and taken action against the responsible parties. The hotel company acknowledged of being aware of the incident and said that a contractor working on-site at the Perth hotel where Team India was staying took the footage.
“We unreservedly apologise to the guest involved and will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure this remains an isolated incident,” a spokeswoman for the company was quoted saying.
Hotel says that they have taken all necessary precautions
Continuing further, she added “We have zero tolerance for this behaviour, and it falls well below the standards we set for our team members and contractors. Crown has taken immediate steps to rectify the issue. The individuals involved have been stood down and removed from the Crown account.”
The hotel confirmed that it was looking into the matter and that it would take “all additional precautions necessary” to guarantee that similar privacy breach occurrences didn’t occur again.
The apology follows the revelation of two people photographing Kohli’s personal items inside his hotel room as seen in a video clip. The caption on the video said, “King Kohli’s Hotel Room.” King Kohli had posted a strong message in response to the video.
