Virat Kohli: The former India captain, Virat Kohli, is once again ranked among the top ten ICC T20I batsmen. King Kohli rose to the ninth spot in the rankings thanks to his heroics during India’s match against Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup. He was previously ranked fifteenth.
India crossed the finish line in the game that came down to the final ball thanks to Kohli’s unbeaten 82-ball innings. The former captain displayed outstanding form during the innings, which he later recaptured for the Asia Cup 2022. The Delhi batsman has awhile back struggled with his form, which has resulted in a performance slump.
Many cricket commentators had harshly criticised him for his lack of an international century since 2019. Like he has done several times throughout his successful career, Kohli accepted the challenge and, after taking a month off, returned to face his critics.
The 33-year-old batsman is counted amongst the all-time greats and possibly the best in T20 cricket. He dropped out of the top 10 due to his form issues, and in August he was ranked number 35. Kohli advanced 20 spots in the rankings after finishing the Asia Cup with the most runs scored during the competition. He has since returned to the top 10.
In the first game against Pakistan, Kohli was in great form, scoring 82* of 53 on the strength of six 4s and four 6s. This is considered to be his best T20 international innings to date. In the T20 World Cup, Kohli’s return to form will surely be India’s biggest advantage.
