Virat Kohli rested for 1st Test against New Zealand, Rahane to lead again

The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Test squad for two-match Test series against New Zealand that will start later this month. Regular skipper Virat Kohli has been rested for the first Test and Ajinkya Rahane was named as the stand-in captain.

Along with Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Rishabh Pant have also been rested ahead of mega South Africa Tests.

Virat Kohli will join the squad for the second Test and will lead the team.

Before the Test series, India will play New Zealand in three-match T20I series starting November 17 where Rohit Sharma will lead the team.
