MS Dhoni rarely does any interviews so whenever he does everyone listens. Another thing that Dhoni rarely does is pick favorites so that is why becoming his favorite player is considered a very big deal.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah have been heroes for the Blues for a long time now. Recently in the T20i World Cup, all three of them led the Indian team to glory.
All three of them and huge fanbases and it looks like one of them has even made Dhoni their fan. At a public event, one fan asked Dhoni about his current favorite bowler and batsman and the answer might surprise you.
MS Dhoni Favorite Player
On being asked about his favorite active batsman and bowler, the five-time IPL-winning captain took no time to name Jasprit Bumrah as his favorite bowler. He even stated that picking Bumrah is an easy decision.
However, he was much more reserved while naming his favorite batter and didn’t take any names. He stated that there are so many good batsmen and it does not matter as long as India is doing good.
The World Cup-winning skipper stated “It’s easy to pick a bowler since Bumrah is there. It’s difficult to pick a batter because we have several good batters but that doesn’t mean bowlers aren’t good. Just saying, it is tough.
Whoever I watch, he looks the best but then I see someone else who also looks great. As long as team India is doing fine, I don’t want to pick a batter but I hope they will keep scoring runs. However, I have picked my favorite bowler.”
The Best Bowler
Bumrah is currently the best bowler in the world. He is on a different stage altogether. It was MS’s captaincy that Bumrah made his debut and has not cliched the world. According to the bowler himself, MS Dhoni as a skipper gave him a lot of confidence and security.
Bumrah has stated “He gave me a lot of security quickly. When I came to Australia, I had just taken a flight and I didn’t know anyone. How do you talk to MS Dhoni first time? You are suddenly playing a game and not practicing with the team. He is one of the guys who has a lot of faith in his instincts and doesn’t believe in a lot of planning.”
