India’s 316-run chase got off to the worst possible start as the team lost openers Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar after scoring just 23 runs. Then, Kohli and Gautam Gambhir joined forces in the middle to set up a 224-run partnership, giving India a commanding lead in the game. Another highlight of the match was that Gautam Gambhir was awarded MOTM but he shared it with Virat.
While Gambhir continued to remain undefeated at 150 runs, Kohli was dismissed after playing a 107-run innings. India easily defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets as a result of this. In ODIs, Kohli has currently amassed 44 hundreds. Kohli has 27 hundred to his name in the game’s longest format. He surpassed MS Dhoni in the year 2019 to take the title of India’s most successful Test captain.
