During the Asia Cup 2023 finals between India and Sri Lanka, Mohammed Siraj showcased his supremacy at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo by taking six wickets. Nonetheless, amidst the Sri Lankan batting woes, a notable incident occurred in the 14th over of the Sri Lankan innings when Indian batsman Virat Kohli conceded five runs through an overthrow.
Following Sri Lanka’s dismissal for a mere 50 runs, social media was abuzz with swift and diverse reactions from netizens. People trolled Virat Kohli for his overthrow and also pointed out that with the overthrow RCB’s record of getting all out on 49 remained safe. Virat Kohli did not get the chance to bat today, while he was rested in the match against Bangladesh.

The Sri Lankan batsmen struggled to cope with the exceptional form of the Indian bowlers. Kusal Mendis was the highest scorer, accumulating 17 runs from 34 deliveries, while Dushan Hemantha chipped in with 13 runs from 15 balls. Remarkably, these were the only two Sri Lankan batsmen who managed to reach double figures. In addition to Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya put up an impressive performance, securing figures of 3/3 and taking 2 wickets in 2 consecutive balls to swiftly conclude the Sri Lankan innings. Furthermore, Jasprit Bumrah also contributed with a wicket in the very first over of the match.
