Wasim Akram: Former captain of Pakistan, Akram, is regarded as one of the best bowlers to ever play the game. He was renowned for swinging the ball left, right, and centre, but the left-arm seamer was an entirely different player when the ball started to reverse. While playing, Akram was charged with match-fixing, and he has frequently discussed how some Pakistanis still hold this accusation against him.

Wasim Akram opens on social media bashing
In an interview, Akram brought up the fact that the Pakistani social media generation continues to refer to him as a match-fixer. He also discussed how the people in India, Australia, England, and the West Indies show him a lot of love.
Wasim said, “In India, Australia, West Indies, and England, when they talk about the World XI, when they talk about the best bowler in the world, my name pops up but in Pakistan, this generation, this social media generation, they are the one who come down, every comment they send, they say, ‘oh, he is a match fixer’, not knowing what it was.”
Continuing further he said, “I have passed that stage in my life where I have to worry about people.”
Wasim Akram’s legendary career
It was rumoured that Akram attempted to fix a 1996 match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Christchurch and that he left the 1996 World Cup quarterfinal loss to India too late.
With 414 wickets, Pakistani bowler Wasim Akram still holds the record for most in the nation’s 104 Test appearances. In 356 ODIs, he also took 502 wickets.
He is largely regarded as the best left-arm fast bowler to have ever played the game, along with helping Pakistan win the 1992 World Cup and leading his nation to the 1999 ICC World Cup final.
