Virat Kohli: Mohammad Rizwan was the hero of Pakistan against Ireland as he helped his team secure the victory. Pakistan lost the first match of the 3-match T20i series in a dramatic fashion.
While chasing a target of 194 in the second match, Pakistan was once again in trouble. Skipper Babar Azam departed on a duck, leaving the side in a worrisome state. That is when Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan took over.
Man Of The Match Rizwan scored 75 runs in just 46 deliveries while Fakhar was even more threatening as he scored 78 runs in just 40 deliveries. Pakistan was able to clinch the match by 7 wickets to level the series.
‘Learnt A Lot From Virat Kohli’
The heartwarming moment came at the post-match conference when Rizwan praised Indian player Virat Kohli. He stated that he has learned a lot from Kohli and praised what an amazing player he is.
The conversation started when the presenter reminded him that along with Virat Kohli, he’s the only other batter from a Test-playing nation to average over 50 in T20Is. To which Rizwan responded, “Virat Kohli is a good player and we learned a lot from him. I respect him.”.
He further stated “I don’t look at my numbers, if you look at the average, you are an average player. If you look at the match situation and the conditions then it’s better.”
Respect To Ireland
Rizwan also praised Ireland’s cricket team for the tough competition. “If you look at the whole match, they (Ireland) played really well. So have to credit them guys. Chasing 194 is not easy as Ireland knows the conditions and they gave a difficult time early on but we decided to attack and this is why we were successful,” he stated.
