The West Indies Cricket board have confirmed that the Caribbean team will not tour Pakistan in 2023 after a mutual agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The West Indies were scheduled to play a three-match T20I series in Pakistan in January 2023, which has been pushed forward to 2024.
“The decision has been made considering 2024 is an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup year, with the event due to be hosted in the West Indies and USA in June 2024, and the shortest format matches will, therefore, help both the sides to prepare for the tournament,” a spokesperson said.
Both PCB and CWI said that the decision was made keeping in mind that 2024 is an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup year, and the renewed timing of the series could benefit both sides.
