Wrestlers Protest: Sexual harassment accused, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Singh said that ‘Bajrang Punia had ordered someone to “arrange a girl” in order to file harassment claims under the Pocso Act.’ Even after the Delhi Police filed a case against Brij Bhushan Singh based on a complaint from seven wrestlers, including a minor. Brij Bhushan Singh, who is facing two FIRs, has denied any wrongdoing.
Wrestlers hired someone to make new accusations- Brij Bhushan
Brij Bhushan has remained steadfast in the face of heightened demonstrations and claimed that wrestlers hired someone to make new accusations months after they ceased their protest in response to the creation of a commission led by legendary boxer MC Mary Kom to investigate the situation. ‘I don’t know the [young] girl who is making these claims against me. The young girl didn’t even testify in front of the oversight committee established to look into the situation,’ according to Brij Bhushan Singh.

The main target is the party-Brij Bhushan
‘I had provided the committee with an audio tape of Bajrang Punia asking someone to set up a girl. He repeated the allegation that the protest was politically motivated, saying that three months later they had organised it and made a new accusation. The WFI chief continued by saying that it is possible to see ‘forces who were involved in Shaheen Bagh (anti-CAA protests) and farmers’ protest.’ Brij Bhushan, a BJP MP stated, ‘I am simply an excuse, the main target is the party.’ At Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, a number of prominent wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia, have been protesting in favour of Brij Bhushan Singh’s arrest and expulsion from the federation.
