Wimbledon 2023: The first Women’s Wimbledon 2023 semi-final ended in a heartbreak. As Elina Svitolina was knocked out by Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets on the center court.
An exit that was really heartbreaking and shattered the hearts of many fans around the globe. On the other hand, Tunisia international Ons Jabeur defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the second semi-final to book her place in the finals.
The finals will be played on June 15th on the Centre Court. Markéta Vondroušov holds the 14th rank in the world meanwhile Ons Jabeur is ranked sixth in the world currently.
A Heartbreak
Svitolina was a wild card entry in Wimbledon as she returned to the tour only three months ago. She gave birth to a child last year and was out of the game since. Her fairy tale run was really empowering as she defeated world no.1 Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals.
The semi-final never really took off as Vondrousova defeated the Ukraine international quite easily. The game never got going as the Czeck international shut Svitolina down completely.
The game ended with a scoreline of 6-3,6-3. In the second semifinal, Ons Jabeur toughed out a difficult victory with a scoreline of 6-7,6-4,6-3. The final will be an intense one for sure.
All-Time Wimbledon 2023 Finals?
We are also going towards an all-time Men’s Wimbledon final as both World Ranked No. 1 Carlos Alcarez and World Ranked No.2 Novak Djokovic will play their respective semi-final matches tomorrow.
Djokovic will take on Italy international Jannik Sinner who is ranked 8 whereas Alcarez will take on World Ranked No.3, Danil Medvedev. Both of these semi-finals will be played on the center court.
If Alcarez and Djokovic win their matches we might see a final that is worthy of the spectacle that Wimbledon is.
