Wimbledon 2023

Novak Djokovic defeated Stan Wawrinka in straight sets in their third-round clash in Wimbledon 2023 to cruise to the next round.

Wimbledon 2023: The elite clash between the two rivals in Wimbledon 2023 was a one-sided affair. And you can completely blame World Ranker Number 2 Novak Djokovic for it as he never gave his rival any chance.

Stan Wawrinka looked completely out of his depth in his clash against the Serbian. Even though the Swiss had the upper hand against Djokovic in recent major encounters, this match was completely different from it.

The win also marked Djokovic’s decade-long domination on the grass court. He has not lost a match in the center court for almost a decade now. Stan Wawrinka had some interesting comments regarding the Serb tennis star and his streak.

A One-Sided Affair

Djokovic defeated Wawrinka in straight sets and never gave him any chance. For the first two sets, it looked like that Serbian was in a practice match rather than in a third-round Wimbledon match. Wawrinka was never into the game.

Djokovic defeated Stan by 6-3,6-1,7-6 in straight sets. The third set was a little bit competitive but in the end, Serbian found a way to get past the Swiss international easily. The second set especially showcased Djokovic’s class.

This was their 27th clash with Djokovic having a very high lead. Djokovic had won 20 out of their 26 matches before this encounter. But, Wawrinka had Djokovic’s number in their last three major clashes which made this game really exciting.

“Someone Can Beat Djokovic”

Wawrinka was in complete praise and awe of Serbian after the game. He acknowledged Novak Djokovic as the world’s best and stated that he doesn’t see him losing any time soon.

“Djokovic is the best in the world. Someone can beat him. One match can lead to many scenarios. But I would be astonished to see it here.” The Swiss stated after the match.
