Jay Shah is optimistic that the WIPL would guarantee the involvement of women of all ages.
The Women Indian Premier League (WIPL) media rights were put up for auction today. According to the reports, the nation’s top 3 broadcasters and OTT platforms filed their BIDS for the rights. For the WIPL Media Rights, the three biggies—Disney+ Star, Sony-ZEE Combine, and Viacom18—were all in the running. Finally, the BCCI has named a winner, and it is Viacom18.

Earlier, the media rights auction was postponed for four days. The rights will be granted to the best bidder, albeit not necessarily the highest, after a closed bidding procedure.
In India, women’s cricket rights are being auctioned out for the first time on a standalone basis. The auction’s outcome will serve as a yardstick for the commercialization of women’s cricket in India.
