Women’s Asia Cup 2022: After a stunning victory against Thailand in leaugue matches, India has defeated them yet again to secure the final spot. Earlier, THAI W had won the toss and opted to field first in the game. Subsequently, they restricted India for 148 while India could score only 31 runs in their final five overs.
Thailand Women’s captain scored 21 off 41 balls while Nattaya scored 21 off 29 balls, rest no other player could even go beyond the score of five runs.
However, things didn’t go as plan for Thailand as they were bundled out for just 74 runs in 20 overs while losing nine wickets. With ball, India’s most profilic player was Deepti Sharma who took 3 wickets in her four overs spell while shelling just 7 runs. Following her was Rajeshwari Gayakwad who took two wickets in four overs while shelling 10 runs. Sneh Rana took a wicket and gave 16 runs in her four overs spell. Renuka Singh and Shafali Verma took a wicket as well.
During the first innings, India went on a positive note with Shafali verma’s 42 off 28 balls. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur scored 36 off 30 balls, being the second highest scorer. Following her, was Rodrigues who managed to score 27 off 26 balls. Pooja Vastrakar made 17 from 13 balls while Smriti Mandhana scored 13 off 14 balls.
For Thailand, Tippoch was their star bowler as she took 3 wickets in her four over spells in which she gave away just 3 wickets. Boochatham, Phannita Maya, and Thipatcha took a wicket each.
