Women’s Asia Cup 2022: After posting a total of 159/5 in 20 overs, Team India were looking on a backfoot, but a solid comeback by Team India’s bowling attack has ensured a comfortable win of 59 runs. Bangladesh Women did not look in the touch since the start of their innings as they could manage to score just 45 runs in the first nine overs.

For Bangladesh, their highest run-getter was skipper and wicket keeper Nigar Sultana who scored 36 off 29 balls, while Fargana Hoque scored 30 off 40 balls and Murshid Khatun scored 21 off 25 balls. All other batters could not even go far than the score of 4.
Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma picked a pair of wickets each
In terms of balling, India’s attack was very lethal. Shafali Verma, in her spell of four overs, gave just 10 runs and picked 2 wickets. Deepti Sharma, too, took two wickets while shelling just 13 runs in her spell of four overs. Sneh Rana also picked up a wicket by shelling just 17 runs in her 3-over spell.

Earlier, Team India had won the toss and opt to bat first. For India, highest run-scorer was Shafali Verma, who managed to scored 55 off balls. Following her was skipper Smriti Mandhana who scored 47 off 38 balls. Though, India had a good start as they scored 91 runs in 10 overs but quick wicket succession ensured an average score.
In the first inning, Rumana Ahmed’s spell was pivoital as she gave just 27 runs but picked 3 wickets in 3 overs. Apart from her, Sanjida Akter bowled an economical spell of 20 runs from four overs. Salma Khatun, too, picked a wicket in her three over spell while shelling just 16 runs.
