The World Athletics has awarded Anju Bobby George as ‘Woman of the Year’ 2021 for her excellent efforts in advancing sport in India and inspiring more women to follow their dreams.
In 2016 Anju opened a training academy for young girls, which has already helped to produce a world U20 medallist.
Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica and Karsten Warholm of Norway who were the medallist in the Tokyo Olympics were also named the World Athletes of the Year at the World Athletics Awards 2021 ceremony on Wednesday.
“I just take it year by year,” said Thompson-Herah in an official release.
“I went very close to the world record so you know, anything is possible. No spikes hanging up any time soon,”
