World Cup 2023: The World Cup trophy is being topped by the legs of Australian cricket player Mitchell Marsh, as seen in a photo that has gone viral on social media. The Australian skipper Pat Cummins posted the picture on Instagram first. It then travelled to a number of social media sites. The move was deemed “disrespectful” by the internet, which also mocked him for it.
Post-Victory Circulation
Shortly after Australia hoisted the World Cup title, the photo was circulated. On Sunday, November 19, Australia took on India, the host nation, at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It looks like the picture was taken in the hotel room when the Australian team was relaxing and having casual conversations. Marsh displayed his gold medal with both of his legs propped up on top of the trophy.
Trolling Marsh for Trophy Display
He was the target of online trolling as soon as the photo went viral, accusing him of being “disrespectful” of the trophy. Australia won their sixth Cricket World Cup after defeating India in the championship match. After winning the toss, Australia elected to field first in the match, which was played in Ahmedabad. With half-centuries from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, India was able to reach 240 runs. But Travis Head of Australia had an incredible innings, scoring 137 runs off of 120 balls to send his team to victory. With 42 balls remaining, Australia won comfortably by six wickets.
