World Cup 2023: The tension between India and Pakistan for the World Cup 2023 is not seeming to end. Just a few days ago, both Wasim Akram and Kamran Akmal bashed PCB for not keeping their issues aside even for the World Cup.
Now it looks like the tension between these two nations is going to rise. According to the Times Of India, Pakistan plans to send a security delegation to India before the World Cup. The delegation is to assess the World Cup venues before granting approval to their team to travel to India.
But this is not an unusual practice as it had happened before as well. When Pakistan traveled to India for the 2011 ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup, a security delegation was sent those times as well to assess the situation.
World Cup 2023: Not An Unusual Thing
An official source in the Inter-Provincial Coordination (Sports) Ministry stated that it is not an unusual practice to send a delegation. This happened every time Pakistan had a tour in India and happened in the previous World Cup. He further clarified that the foreign and interior ministry would decide to send the delegation to India.
If the delegation finds everything satisfying, the government will only send the team to India. The official further clarified that the delegation would visit Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad to see all the security and arrangements. If the delegation finds any problem, he will ask ICC and BCCI for a change.
Happens In Every Sport
The security delegation thing is not only limited to cricket. Pakistan sends its security delegation to India before a match in every sport and vice versa. Recently, a security delegation was sent when India played against Pakistan in SAFF Championship.
Pakistan hockey team is also waiting for security approval clearance. So that they can send their team to the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai in August.
