World Cup 2023: Former Indian captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly came out and defended Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma ahead of World Cup 2023. He stated that even though both are above 30, we haven’t seen the end of them.
He also stated that you should always look at a player based on their performance, not their age. Ganguly further stated that he thinks both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli won’t leave any stone unturned in their quest to lift the World Cup.
India will be going into the tournament with the intention of winning it. India last won the World Cup in 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The 2011 World Cup was also in India, and Rohit Sharma will also like to win the world cup with a home advantage.
Rohit and Virat Will Leave No Stone Unturned For World Cup 2023
Sourav Ganguly stated Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will do everything they can in World Cup. He stated that both of them would try to make this event one of their best. And not just with personal records but also to lift the trophy with the team.
He also stated that players should always be judged based on their performances rather than age. Ganguly stated that he does not know the future of Virat Kohli as they are both going toward the twilight of their careers.
He also believes that both players have the determination and does not doubt them at all. Ganguly thinks both of them will put personal beliefs aside and look to succeed as a team.
A New Era Begins
India will go on a tour of the West Indies to kickstart their World Cup campaign. Ind vs WI will kick off next month, with many youngsters to be given a chance in the series. The board has also dropped Cheteshwar Pujara and has selected youngsters in his place.
BCCI is also looking for a new chief selector as the squad submission date declared by ICC is coming to a close. India will also look to win Asia Cup 2023, which will start on August 31, 2023.
