WPL 2023 Final: The finale of the Women’s Premier League is currently underway at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. Skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and chose to bat first in the game. However, it was Mumbai Indians’ Issy Wong who kept the momentum towards her team with two quick wickets in her first over itself.
Issy Wong takes two in an over
Delhi Capitals did not have a good start in the game as they were able to score just two runs in the first over. The star player of the last match for MI and the lone hat-trick taker of the tournament, Issy Wong was handed over the opportunity to bowl the second over and she did not disappoint her captain and fans.
Shafali Verma started the over with an aggressive hit as she smashed 6 on the first and a boundary on the second ball. However, just on the third ball, Issy dismissed Shafali after she was caught out by Amelia Kerr at the backward point. The decision was quite controversial as DC argued that it was a no ball since it was above the waist but the umpire decided otherwise and adjourned her out.
The next ball went for dot but just on the fifth ball, she dismissed Alice Capsey who was caught out by Amanjot Kaur. DC again took the review for no ball but failed and lost both their openers and crucial wickets just at the start of the innings.
