WPL 2023: The anticipated date for the Women’s Premier League’s (WPL) first player auction has been released. WPL 2023 Auction is reportedly scheduled to take place in New Delhi. And during the second week of February, the five original franchises will compete with paddles.

When will the WPL 2023 auction take place?
Notably, the BCCI has not yet revealed the start date or the auction for the eagerly anticipated WPL Season 1. The WPL’s inaugural season, however, is anticipated to take place in March due to the short time window.
After vying for the franchises in the BCCI’s WPL bid procedure, Adani Sportsline Pvt Ltd (Ahmedabad), Indiawin Sports Pvt Ltd (Mumbai), Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd (Bangalore), JSW GMR Cricket Pvt Ltd (Delhi), and Capri Global Holdings Pvt Ltd (Lucknow) were victorious. And on February 10 or 11, the aforementioned franchisees will participate in an auction in the capital.
Although a player draft was suggested, BCCI decided to have a male IPL-style auction in its instead. The BCCI has defined the players’ reserved basic prices as Rs 50, 40, and 20 lakh. The rates for uncapped players are Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh. 150 players are anticipated to be in the auction pool, and each team would have a pay cap of Rs 12 crore.
Viacom18 acquires media rights for WPL
A squad size of 18 is the maximum and teams will be allowed to choose between 15 and 18 players. 5 international players have also been given permission by BCCI to enter the starting XI. But at least one of the five must be from an associate country.
For Rs 951 Cr, Viacom18 acquired the WPL Media Rights. In terms of teams, the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals have all accepted offers for WPL teams. Adani Sportsline and Capri Global have owned more clubs in addition to the three IPL franchises.
