WPL: The first season of the Women’s Premier League will be held in Mumbai from March 4 to 26, 2023. The tournament will be hosted by two stadiums, the Brabourne and D.Y. Patil, with 22 games being played. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the final player auction list, which includes 409 cricketers.
When will the WPL auction take place?
The player auction will take place on February 13 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. From a pool of 1525 players, 409 were chosen to participate in the inaugural Women’s Premier League. The five participating teams are based in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Lucknow, and Mumbai.
246 of the 409 players are Indian cricketers, with the rest being international players. There are a total of 202 capped players, 199 uncapped players, and eight players from associate nations. The five teams have a total of 90 available slots, with 30 designated for international players.
The highest base price is set at INR 50 lakhs, with 24 players opting for this tier. These include Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, all-rounder Deepti Sharma, and the young sensation and U19 World Cup-winning captain Shafali Verma. 30 players have a base price of INR 40 lakhs, and the auction is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM on February 13.

Foreign players in this tier include Australian all-rounders Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, Jess Jonassen, England all-rounder Sophie Ecclestone, New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine, former West Indies cricketer Deandra Dottin, England’s Natalie Sciver, India’s pace bowler Renuka Singh Thakur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Australian skipper Meg Lanning, Indian pacer Pooja Vastrakar, England opener Danni Wyatt, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy, and Indian wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh.
