Wrestler Sakshi Malik Reacts to Wrestling Federation of India’s Suspension Amid Leadership Dispute

Former wrestler Sakshi Malik expressed her lack of clarity on the suspension of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its chief Sanjay Singh. She emphasized that she has not received any written confirmation of the suspension and highlighted that the wrestlers’ battle is not against the government.

The Union Sports Ministry took a significant step in response to protests by star wrestlers like Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia. The decision involved pulling up the WFI and all its office-bearers, addressing concerns related to the election of a new WFI president.

Nandini Nagar Chosen as Venue for U-15 and U-20 Nationals

The decision to suspend the WFI comes shortly after the announcement of Nandini Nagar in Gond district, Uttar Pradesh, as the venue for the U-15 and U-20 nationals by the end of the year.

Sakshi Malik Praises Decision, Seeks Clarity

Sakshi Malik commended the decision but expressed the need for clarity on the suspension. She mentioned not having seen any official communication and stressed that the wrestlers’ fight is for justice, especially for women wrestlers. Despite announcing her retirement, Malik hinted at a possible reversal based on the decisions made by the reformed federation.
