Wrestlers’ Protest: Top Indian wrestlers continued to protest against the Wrestling Federation of India after female players alleged that WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh of sexual assault. Meanwhile Bajrang Punia who won bronze medal during the Tokyo Olympics has said that if needed, they “will take the legal route” to get their demands fulfilled.
Punia wants WFI to be dissolved
Punia said, they “have only one demand which is to dissolve the federation” adding that the protesting wrestlers will go back to their homes if their demands are fulfilled by the government.
“Still, many players are scared that there are many tournaments ahead, and what will happen to them. So, we have cancelled them. Hopefully, this information will reach to the young athletes through media,” Punia addded.
Earlier Wrestler Vinesh Phogat came forward to expose Brij Bhushan Singh and said many others close to him have also harassed women wrestlers in the past.

“Women wrestlers have been sexually harassed at national camps by coaches and also the WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan. Some of the coaches appointed at national camps have been sexually harassing women wrestlers for years. The WFI president is also involved in sexual harassment,” Vinesh told the media.
