Wrestler’s Protest: The wrestlers’ protest that is taking place at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has brought some major news to light. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was scheduled to conduct a news conference, but he has cancelled, according to the information. Prateek Bhushan Singh, his son, stated that his father won’t even make a comment today. After January 22 only, he will now make a public announcement.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur in action

He will hold a press conference on 22nd January itself. After the AGM that day, the media will be notified. The wrestlers met with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday evening after a long wait. The sports ministry representatives also arrived to Anurag Thakur’s home just before the wrestler did. The conversations are currently ongoing. In this meeting, there are a total of 7 players, including Satyavrat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Ravi Dahiya, and Vinesh Phogat.

In a previous tweet, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh stated that he will conduct a news conference on Friday afternoon to expose the political plot against him. Singh represents Kaiserganj, Uttar Pradesh, in the Lok Sabha for the BJP. He announced in a post on Facebook that a news conference will be held at the wrestling training facility in Nawabganj, in the state’s Gonda district. Although he has since refuted it.

WFI has been granted 72 hours by the Union Sports Ministry to reply to the wrestlers’ claims. The ministry stated that it will take action against the WFI in accordance with the National Sports Development Code, 2011, if the federation doesn’t answer within the following 72 hours. This Friday is the last date.

What are the allegations on WFI President?

The WFI president, federation instructors, and wrestlers themselves have all been accused of sexually harassing female competitors and of mismanaging the federation’s business. A total overhaul of the wrestling federation has been urged by Bajrang Punia. WFI’s President is allegedly harassing women by acting inappropriately with them, according to Vinesh Phogat. He claimed that the head of the wrestling organisation, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, had harassed female athletes sexually and also insulted them after the loss in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
