Mohammed Shami’s desperation to get back on the field wearing the national jersey was the highlight of the India vs Australia warm-up game. The speedster took three wickets in the final over where he was given just 10 runs to defend. More than this there he also did a runout in the 20th over.
Shami, who has not played a T20I game for India since last year’s World Cup, did not feature in the Playing XI but produced one of the most memorable performances to guide India to the winning line. Infact, in the entire match, he didn’t bowl a single over before the last one.
Riding on Shami’s heroics, India defeated Australia by 6 runs in the first warm-up match of the T20 World Cup.
Earlier, India managed to score 186 in the first innings following KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav’s top knocks. Australia looked quite set and took the game towards the end in the chase but Rohit Sharma’s unique plan veined it all.
India will play their last practice game against New Zealand on Wednesday before heading into mega Sunday game against arch-rivals Pakistan.
