Yuzvendra Chahal: Yuzi and Tabraiz Shamsi, a batter for South Africa, had a funny exchange over how Chahal was a “better batsman than Virat Kohli.” Although Shamsi and Chahal are well known for their close friendship, the Indian spin wizard was recently caught on camera kicking his pal in a video that quickly went viral on social media.
They continued their banter on Twitter, when Shamsi included Chahal in a tweet from a fan asking his followers to name a batsman who was superior than Virat Kohli in all three forms. In response to the fan’s post, the Proteas spinner humorously tagged Chahal, referring to him as better than Kohli.
Chahal continued the banter by claiming to be a better batsman than Shamsi in a better comeback. The spinner for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), who also had a running joke with Jos Buttler during the IPL 2022, wrote, “Still better than you my bro.”
Shamsi continued to praise his friend as the “best of the era” without holding back. Shamsi said, “Not only me, you’re the finest of our era bro”. However, it wasn’t the end of their amusing conversation, as Chahal made a cheeky remark about Shamsi not wearing a chest protection when facing spinners.
“Still I don’t wear chest guard while facing spinners like you bru,” wrote Chahal.
Team South Africa and Team India are in the same Group in the T20 World Cup 2022, so Chahal and Shamsi may yet get a chance to make amends when their sides square off on October 30 at Optus Stadium in Perth.
On October 27, though, India will play the Netherlands before that match, while the Proteas will play Bangladesh later in the day.
