Yuzvendra Chahal: The prodigal leg spinner of India was not selected for the Asia Cup 2023 17-men squad. But rather than getting dejected he got up and decided to work on his skills even more.
There is no doubt that he is one of the most talented spinners in India right now. A proper white ball leg spinner who has a knack for getting wickets. So, when India decided not to include him in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Squad, he decided to take his skills somewhere else.
A few days ago, it was announced that Chahal will make his County Cricket debut for Kent. He was in the playing XI for Kent against Nottinghamshire on Sunday and set county cricket on fire on Monday.
Sensational Debut For Yuzvendra Chahal
While Yuzvendra Chahal’s debut with the bat did not go as planned as he was dismissed for a duck, he made sure that he would make up for that with the ball in his hands. And he did that wonderfully.
The Rajasthan Royals leggie took 3 wickets on the second day and sent Nottinghamshire into deep trouble. He was the top wicket-taker for Kent alongside Aron Nijjar on the second day. Of the three dismissals, one stood out as a miracle wicket that only Chahal can take.
It was a proper leg spinner wicket as Lyndon James was on strike. The ball pitched right in front of him and as James went to defend it, the ball turned vigorously and took off the off-stump. Even James was surprised because of the quality of the delivery.
“A Good Experience”
Chahal opened up about his experience of playing for Kent so far and stated “I’m playing red-ball cricket after 14 months, it’s a little tough but a good experience for me. Good lads, I never felt like I’m playing Kent for the first time.”
