24 ministers Take Oath! Siddaramaiah-led Congress Administration Begins Governance in Karnataka

Siddaramaiah: 24 ministers were appointed to the newly elected Siddaramaiah-led Congress administration Cabinet in Bengaluru a week after taking office in Karnataka. The swearing-in ceremony was held in the presence of the newly expanded Cabinet, which was approved following much debate over the selection of ministers and announced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah last night after his return from Delhi. Among those joining the Cabinet today are MLAs H K Patil, Krishna Byregowda, N Cheluvarayaswamy, K Venkatesh, and H C Mahadevappa, as well as Congress working president Eshwar Khandre and former state Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao.

Lingayats, SCs, Vokkaligas, and More in Karnataka’s Ministerial Lineup

Eight Lingayats make up the list of ministers, including the only woman, Lakshmi Hebbalkar. There are also seven members of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, five Vokkaliga members, two Muslims, three members of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, six members of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community, including one Maratha, one Brahmin, one Christian, and one Jain. The cabinet will thereafter consist of 34 ministers, including the ten who took the oath of office alongside Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar on May 20.

Sharanprakash Patil and Madhu Bangarappa Take Oath

Sen. Sedam A Lingayat MLA named Sharanprakash Patil takes an oath to serve in the Siddaramaiah Cabinet. He is a physician by training and formerly served as Karnataka’s minister of medical education. He is regarded as Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress, close friend. Madhu Bangarappa, a minister in the Siddaramaiah-led Cabinet, takes the oath of office. He is the son of former Karnataka CM S Bangarappa. He is a first-time Congress MLA and a two-time MLA. He is a member of the OBC Ediga neighbourhood.
