Cyclone Biparjoy: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Biparjoy, a’severe’ cyclonic storm, will pass through Saurashtra, Kutch, and the adjacent Pakistani beaches today between Mandvi and Karachi close to Gujarat’s Jakhau Port. Today between 4 and 5 pm, Cyclone Biparjoy will make landfall. As a precaution, more than 74,000 residents of the Gujarat coast have been relocated to safer areas, and the state government has sent out disaster management teams to help with rescue and relief efforts. Hospitals have taken in pregnant ladies. To reduce the loss of life and property, reserve NDRF personnel have been stationed at 15 additional locations around Gujarat, according to NDRF DG Atul Karwal, who spoke to news agency PTI.
Gujarat Gears Up as Biparjoy Brings High Water and Heavy Winds
As ‘Biparjoy’ approaches the Gujarat coast, high water and heavy winds were seen in Mandvi. It will touch down this evening.
Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, met with officials to examine the situation before cyclone Biparjoy made landfall. The Saurashtra-Kutch region had heavy rainfall and strong winds as the storm approached the Gujarat coast, according to the Met department. For quick humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in Gujarat, the Indian Coast Guard has prepared ships, relief personnel, and helicopters. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has designated a total of 33 teams to conduct relief and rescue operations in Gujarat and Maharashtra prior to the anticipated arrival of Cyclone Biparjoy.
Biparjoy’s Wrath Causes Unsettling Sea Conditions in Northeast Arabian Sea
Due to cyclone “Biparjoy,” sea conditions in the northeast Arabian Sea will remain unsettling today. All fishing activities should continue to be halted. Oil exploration, port operations, and offshore activities should all be regulated today, IMD Director General Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra.
