G Krishnaiah: The IAS cohorts of G. Krishnaiah, a former district magistrate of Gopalganj, Bihar, who was killed in 1994 by a group led by gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan Singh, are looking into legal possibilities to contest a Bihar government ruling that would allow the life convict to soon leave prison.
AGMUT Cadre IAS Officers Association condemn the release of the culprits
Krishnaiah was an IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, class of 1985. He was slain by a mob when they forced him out of his company car. He overcame all obstacles, being a member of a landless Dalit family from Mahabubnagar in Telangana, to pass the competitive Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) test. The AGMUT Cadre IAS Officers Association condemn the release of the culprits and writing in a press note they said, ” The AGMUT Cadre IAS Officers Association expresses its deep concern and anguish over the release of convicts responsible for lynching the then District Magistrate, Gopalganj, Bihar Late Shri G. Krishnaiah, IAS. The release has been done by amending classification rules of prisoners. It tantamounts to denial of justice to the departed soul and his bereaved family.”

Bihar government announced the release of 27 inmates
AGMUT Cadre IAS Officers Association further said, “The Association expresses solidarity with the Indian Civil and Administrative Service (Central) Association in demanding justice to the family of Late Shri G. Krishnaiah, IAS. The Association stands firmly by the family of the deceased officer in its fight for justice.” The “murder of a public servant on duty” clause was removed from the list of circumstances for which consideration of remission of jail term cannot be made by the State administration on April 10. The Bihar government announced the release of 27 inmates, including Mohan, who is now serving a life sentence for the murder of Krishnaiah, on April 24.
