Ajit Pawar Meets With Uncle Sharad Pawar

Ajit Pawar

Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, visited Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party, a day earlier to seek his blessing. He was joined by a number of loyal MLAs.

Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel, senior Pawar’s close aide, left to join the BJP-Eknath Shinde administration in Maharashtra, however Praful Patel claimed that several NCP cabinet ministers were absent from the surprise visit because it was a Sunday.

“They met Sharad Pawar today after the Assembly session, and he patiently listened to us,” he said, adding that the senior leader didn’t say anything.

According to sources, the Sharad Pawar camp had talks in Delhi with their legal counsel in order to pass a resolution through MLAs.

Even the legal team members is confused by the back-and-forth discussions, despite the fact that the legal opinion requested was to remain on the benches of the opposition.

According to the legal opinion, the MLAs from the Sharad Pawar camp were required to adopt a resolution to continue to be in the opposition and to present it to the Assembly Speaker today.

The rebel camp claimed that during their meeting with Sharad Pawar yesterday, they had asked the senior leader to prevent party division.

“Sharad Pawar didn’t reply to us, he just kept on listening to what we were saying and after meeting him, we are going back,” Praful Patel said.

“Today we met our God and our leader Sharad Pawar to take his blessings,” said Praful Patel as the rebels emerged from the meeting yesterday.

“We came here without asking for any appointment. We understood Sharad Pawar reached here for a meeting and that’s why we all came here to take his blessings,” he said.

Sharad Pawar reportedly talked to party workers later in the day and stated clearly that he would keep up his “progressive politics” and never form an alliance with the BJP.

Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, NCP has taken a major role in attempting to bring together other parties to oppose the incumbent BJP.

Ajit Pawar’s departure from the Opposition and swearing-in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra caused the NCP to split earlier this month.

Last week, Ajit Pawar also went to his uncle’s house to meet with his aunt Pratibha Pawar, Sharad Pawar’s wife, who had recently undergone surgery. Ajit Pawar claims the backing of more NCP MLAs than Sharad Pawar.
