AP News: After being thrown off a bridge by her mother’s live-in partner, a 13-year-old girl in Andhra Pradesh‘s Guntur district managed to save herself by clinging on a plastic pipe. Keerthana, her mother Puppala Suhasini, and her sister Jersey were forced off the bridge and into the Godavari river early on Sunday morning. However, the 13-year-old clung on a plastic pipe and dialled 100 for police assistance. The mother’s live-in partner was the defendant, Ulava Suresh. Keerthana landed close to and managed to grip a plastic cable pipe next to the bridge as he shoved them off the Ravulapalem Gautami bridge. While hanging, she reached into her pocket for her phone and dialled 100 to contact the police.
Police Rescue Clinging Girl in Guntur Bridge Incident
The mother and the infant, who was one year old, both vanished, but the police were able to save the girl. “At around 3.50 am on Sunday, we got a call seeking help. We rushed to the spot by 4 am and as we saw, a girl was found clinging on to the bridge pipe line in a dangerous situation,” said Ravulapalem police.

The girl was saved by the Ravulapalem police and highway mobile officers. “Suresh, who is living with my mother, took us to Rajamahendravaram. He stopped the car on Ravulapalem Bridge, on the pretext of taking a selfie, and pushed the three of us into the Godavari river,” said Keerthana after the police rescued her. Two teams were organised by the police, one to look for the missing 36-year-old Sahasini and 1-year-old Jersey, and the other to apprehend the suspect Suresh. search for the missing Sahasini, 36, and Jersey, 1 year old, as well as the other team to apprehend accused Suresh.
