An Army soldier, Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom, was tragically kidnapped and killed in Manipur. Sepoy Kom, who was on leave at the time, was abducted from his home in Imphal West district on Saturday. His body was discovered the following morning.

The soldier was kidnapped by unidentified armed individuals from his residence, according to his 10-year-old son, the sole eyewitness to the incident. The armed men entered their home and forcibly took Sepoy Kom away, leaving behind a traumatized family.
Sepoy Kom’s lifeless body was found in Khuningthek village, east of Mongjam in Imphal East, with a single bullet wound to the head. He leaves behind his wife, daughter, and son.
The Army issued a statement strongly condemning the killing and expressed its support for the soldier’s grieving family. The Army has also dispatched a team to provide assistance to the family during this difficult time, and the soldier’s last rites will be conducted according to the family’s wishes.
