Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asserted on Sunday that he is being coerced to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of MLA poaching by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kejriwal made these remarks while laying the foundation stone of a school in Rohini, Delhi.
Firm Stand Against Joining BJP
Kejriwal stated that despite facing various conspiracies, he remains steadfast in not succumbing to pressure. He claimed that the BJP is urging him to join their party, promising to cease hostilities if he complies. However, Kejriwal emphatically declared, “I will never go to BJP, I will never join BJP, not at all.”
Allegations Against BJP and Focus on Education Budgets
In his speech, the Delhi Chief Minister accused the BJP-led Centre of allocating only 4% of the national budget to schools and hospitals, contrasting it with Delhi’s allocation of 40% of its budget for these sectors annually. Kejriwal emphasized the dedication of his colleagues, including Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain, who are facing legal challenges.
Agency Actions Against AAP
Kejriwal claimed that various agencies are targeting AAP members. He asserted that Sisodia faced allegations due to his efforts to improve school infrastructure, while Jain encountered issues for his contributions to developing hospitals and mohalla clinics.
Notice to AAP Minister Atishi in MLA Poaching Case
Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Police served a notice to AAP Minister Atishi in connection with the MLA poaching claims. The AAP alleges that the BJP attempted to lure seven of its MLAs. Atishi has been asked to respond to the notice by Monday.*
This narrative comes in the wake of heightened tensions between the AAP and BJP, with allegations and counter-allegations regarding political maneuvers in the Delhi political landscape.
