Amid the ongoing political tussle between Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, the Congress summoned both senior leaders for separate meetings with party President Mallikarjuna Kharge in New Delhi on Monday.
Congress president Kharge on meeting Gehlot, Pilot
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge while speaking about meeting with Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and DY CM Sachin Pilot said that the decision will be taken in the interest of the party. “They are coming,” he said.
The delegation led by Kharge, also consisting of Rajasthan CM, Sachin Pilot and other Congress leaders is expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu on May 30 to discuss the situation in the state.
Ashok Gehlot vs Sachin Pilot
Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot have been engaged In political tussles since 2020. In a recent display of internal clash in the party, Pilot issued an ultimatum to his own party’s government in Rajasthan to probe the alleged paper leak scam that happened during the BJP government in the state. If demands were not met, he would agitate across the state, Pilot said.
Along with organizing a probe into the paper leak case, Pilot has also demanded financial compensation to the affected candidates and a high-level inquiry into the alleged scam of the Vasundhara Raje government.
“Then Ashok Gehlot Saeb also leveled allegations while being in the opposition. Today four and a half years have been completed but the promises made have not been fulfilled and action has not been taken on the allegations,” Pilot said.
“I went on a fast in Jaipur, but when nothing happened from that, I felt that now I will have to go among the public and I took out the Jan Sangharsh Yatra,” he said.
He further said that he will serve people and serve Rajasthan ‘till my last breath’ “I am not going to suppress or retreat, I will make sacrifices whatever I have to make because people are my strength,” he said.
The Congress meeting comes with just months left for Assembly Polls in Rajasthan this year.
