Ayodhya Ram Mandir: An official decision about the rock that will be used for the Ram Lalla statue to be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the still-under-construction Ayodhya temple will be made at a meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Saturday in Delhi, according to a Trust member.
Five rocks were purchased by the Trust in Karnataka
A committee of sculptors was assembled by the Trust to choose the best rock, and they will present their reports at the conference. Five rocks were purchased by the Trust in Karnataka, four in Rajasthan, one in Odisha, and two in Nepal. For the idol, the best rock will be chosen. Bimalendra Nidhi, a former deputy prime minister of Nepal who was instrumental in completing the paperwork and legal requirements before delivering the rocks to Ayodhya, will also be present at the meeting. He had also been a key player in the cabinet meeting of the previous government in Nepal in passing a motion for the transfer of the rocks to the Trust.
The idol will stand about 8.5 feet tall
The Trust started looking for the best rocks in 2020. It finally decided to obtain rocks from the Gandaki river in the Muktinath region of the Himalayan country after considerable consideration. When it came time to create Ram Lalla’s idol, the Trust hired famous sculptors. It also made the decision to erect a statue depicting the god’s youth. Models of the Ram Lalla idol have been sent by Sudarshan Sahu and Vasudev Kamath from Odisha, KV Maniya from Karnataka, and Shashtrayajya Deulkar from Pune. One of them will be chosen by the Trust. The idol will stand about 8.5 feet tall, according to Champat Rai, general secretary of the Trust, so that sunlight may shine on it.
