Badlapur Assault Case – Akshay Shinde, a 23-year-old man accused of raping two nursery school girls, died in a police encounter on Sunday evening after he allegedly snatched a constable’s gun and fired at officers. The incident occurred near the Mumbra bypass while Shinde was being transported for questioning in connection with a separate case of rape and assault filed by his first wife.

The police reported that Shinde, who was being taken into custody from Taloja jall, managed to grab the gun and fire several rounds, injuring one of the officers. In retaliation, another officer shot him. Shinde was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Shinde had been arrested on August 17 after allegedly raping two four-year-old girls in the washrooms of a nursery school where he worked on a contractual basis. His arrest followed a public outcry in Badlapur, with protests erupting after the children reported the assault to their parents.
