Bhiwani murder case: Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, the leader of Ittihad-e-Millat Council, has demanded that right-wing organisations such as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal be declared terrorist organisations and banned, just like the Popular Front of India (PFI). He made these comments while speaking about the recent murders of two Muslim men whose bodies were found in Bhiwani, Haryana.
Controversy sparks after the murder of two Muslim men in Haryana’s Bhiwani
Khan accused the VHP and Bajrang Dal of being responsible for the murders, saying that false allegations were made against the victims and they were murdered. He also criticised the fact that meetings and mahapanchayats were held in support of the accused, and that mob lynchings have become common in India. Khan argued that banning these organisations would send a message to the Hindu community that such acts of violence would not be tolerated. He warned that if the administration did not take action, the situation would become worse in the coming days.
Rajasthan Police have evidence against eight accused named in the FIR
The bodies of Junaid and Nasir were found in Bhiwani on February 16. They were allegedly abducted and murdered by cow vigilantes, and their families named five men allegedly linked to the Bajrang Dal in their complaint to the police. The Rajasthan Police has gathered concrete evidence against eight accused named in the FIR, but the role of Monu Manesar, a member of Bajrang Dal, is still being investigated. Police investigation revealed that all the accused were conducting a private operation as cow vigilantes to catch alleged cattle smugglers. In the process, they intercepted a Bolero car in which Junaid and Nasir were travelling. The accused beat up the duo, and whether they were taken to Haryana police after being beaten is still under investigation.
Bajrang Dal denies allegations against its party members
The Bajrang Dal denied the allegations against its party members without proof. The Haryana Police has also registered a case against 30 to 40 unnamed Rajasthan police personnel on a complaint by a woman that her pregnant daughter-in-law lost her child after she was allegedly assaulted by them during a raid to nab her son.
