BHU: The Banaras Hindu University is all set to launch a new Post Graduate Course called ‘Kashi Studies’. The students will be able to learn the Social, Political and Religious history of Varanasi in this course. According to the Dean of Social Sciences, the course is prepared and it will be added into the History Program. Students who will register in this course will be given an MA Degree in history with specialization in Kashi Studies.
Course will cover the Rich culture of Varanasi
The course will cover all the angles of Varanasi ‘s history, including temples, ghats, cultural festivals, Food, daily life, political and social development. Apart from this, the course will also cover the role of Varanasi in India’s struggle for Independence. Varanasi is the India’s oldest city with a strong Political and Religious background. Lakhs of tourists visit the city to witness its rich culture and tradition making it one of the biggest tourist destinations.
The course will have 2 Year Duration
The academic Council of the Banaras Hindu University also approved 6 more courses recently out of which one is dedicated to the ‘Kashi Studies’. The two year course will explore all the aspects of Varanasi and its culture and tradition.
